The #1 Question I Get Asked Daily

Liposuction with Buttock Augmentation

Fat Transfer to Buttocks is definitely the "it" procedure right now.  I get asked about it every. single. day. Unfortunately, the overwhelming celebrities (Kim, now Kylie for example) make the results seem so attainable.  It maybe for them, but unfortunately those results aren't attainable for everyone and if they are, it can require multiple surgeries to achieve that result.

Repeat: You cannot get the Kim Kardashian look with only one procedure. And sometimes, you can't get it at all.

The topic of taking fat from one part of the body and transferring it to another is confusing to many people.  So many internet articles claim to have the “best method” or get the “best survivability”  of the fat cells.  Most prospective patients are left wondering what to believe and what to choose.

Many plastic surgeons have many different methods to keep the integrity of the fat.  You'll find some boasting about "stem cell transfer," spinning it down after harvesting it, freezing, and many other methods.

 Results cannot be guaranteed

It is very difficult to control all variables when harvesting and transplanting fat cells.  There has been very favorable data published with all methods of fat transfer; however, there has been no true study able to compare each method to the others in a controlled consistent environment (i.e. the patient).

Typically you can expect about 50-60% of the fat that was transferred to stay.  About 40-50% of the transplanted fat will breakdown over time. To offset the difference, we must inject about twice as much fat as we want to stay.  The more fat you want transferred to the buttocks means more liposuction has to be performed.

No matter how much liposuction you are willing to do, the skin will only stretch so much.  More dramatic results may require a separate procedure later on giving the skin time to adjust before it can be stretched more.

Thin girls are not candidates

There has to be fat to transfer.  If you are thin without a lot of excess fat, you'll need to eat quite a bit to gain 15-20 lbs before the procedure can be done.

You cannot use Smartlipo Triplex fat

Smartlipo Triplex has the amazing capability of breaking down fat and tightening skin producing favorable liposuction results.  Did you catch that? It breaks down fat.  For fat transfer, we have to do everything possible to maintain the integrity of the fat so we can only use tumescent liposuction.  You lose the benefits of the minimal downtime and more importantly, skin tightening, of the Smartlipo Triplex system.

Other Options for Enhancing the Buttocks

We can do other procedures that will accentuate the buttocks without having to actually change the size.  Imagine, instead of making the buttocks bigger, what if we made everything else smaller?  We can liposuction using the Smartlipo Triplex to the abdomen, flanks (love handles), outer thighs (saddle bags), inner thighs, etc.  This is a cheaper, more feasible option for many patients.  Considering it can all be done under a local anesthetic, it is much easier on the pocket book as well.

Can Laser Lipo Replace a Tummy Tuck?

When exercise and dieting don’t seem to work, we turn to procedures like liposuction to get rid of unwanted stubborn fat. But sometimes, getting rid of the fat isn’t enough and we’re left with sagging skin. In the past, a tummy tuck was the go-to fix, but could there be a less-invasive way?

Now, some experts are saying that laser lipolysis (or laser liposuction like Smartlipo Triplex), when used in combination with standard liposuction, could replace tummy tucks altogether. The theory is that in addition to melting fat, the laser lipo reduces sagging skin by boosting collagen production, which tightens the skin.

However, some experts believe that we haven’t found a replacement for tummy tucks just yet. “The idea is to heat the tissues under the skin with the laser to stimulate collagen remodeling which in turn produces some tightening, but the degree of tightening is far less than what a tummy tuck does,” says Seattle plastic surgeon Richard A. Baxter, MD. “There are some ‘in between’ cases where the skin is not lax enough to need a tummy tuck but enough to make liposuction alone less than ideal, and these cases may benefit from either laser or radiofrequency with lipo. However, if it is done too aggressively then there can be scarring which is very challenging to fix.”

There are certain cases where a tummy tuck may not be necessary, but for the most part just laser lipo alone can’t tighten the skin enough. If you’re interested in fat removal or skin tightening procedures, be sure to always choose a board-certified doctor like Dr. Robert Kratschmer in Houston.

Slim Those Thighs! Lean Legs are Within Reach

Smartlipo Triplex in Houston - Treatment for Arms, Inner Thighs, Outer Thighs and more

Unfortunately, it's only natural--fat accumulates in areas such as the hips, knees and under the arms, especially for women. These fat deposits, particularly around the arms, are resistant to diet and exercise. Traditionally, the only solution has been a traditional liposuction surgical procedure that leaves significant scarring.

If you find yourself at the pool wrapped in a towel to hide your thighs or wishing you could wear those sleeveless tops, Smartlipo can change that.

Smartlipo trims triceps and downsizes “saddlebags” by removing excess fat permanently. You get a new silhouette with results visible in a week.

The benefits of Smartlipo
for legs and arms

  • No general anesthetic needed

Why is Smartlipo better than traditional liposuction alone?

Why is Smartlipo better than traditional
liposuction alone?
It’s less invasive, patients are highly satisfied, and you can return to normal activity quicker.

Liposuction introduced the world to body contouring. Now Smartlipo Triplex takes an amazing concept and makes it even better. Whether your Houston plastic surgeon uses it to complement traditional liposuction for large areas or to treat targeted trouble spots, Smartlipo was the first and is the trusted choice in laser-assisted lipolysis.

With Smartlipo, there is less bleeding, swelling and bruising than traditional liposuction. As a result, recovery is faster. Let's compare Smartlipo vs. Liposuction:

Traditional Liposuction
Smartlipo
Usually under general anesthesia
Local anesthesia
Loose skin remains where fat is suctioned out
Tightened skin from collagen production where lasers are used (visible after three to six months)
Significant pain
Less pain
Increased chance of complications (based on touch-ups)
Less chance of complications (based on touch-ups)
Resume work after a week
Resume work after two days

According to American Health and Beauty, Smartlipo is the most popular requested cosmetic procedure in 2008 and 2009. This is due to the minimal invasiveness of the procedure and the high degree of patient satisfaction. So what area would you like to improve?
