The #1 Question I Get Asked Daily
Fat Transfer to Buttocks is definitely the "it" procedure right now. I get asked about it every. single. day. Unfortunately, the overwhelming celebrities (Kim, now Kylie for example) make the results seem so attainable. It maybe for them, but unfortunately those results aren't attainable for everyone and if they are, it can require multiple surgeries to achieve that result.
Repeat: You cannot get the Kim Kardashian look with only one procedure. And sometimes, you can't get it at all.
The topic of taking fat from one part of the body and transferring it to another is confusing to many people. So many internet articles claim to have the “best method” or get the “best survivability” of the fat cells. Most prospective patients are left wondering what to believe and what to choose.
Many plastic surgeons have many different methods to keep the integrity of the fat. You'll find some boasting about "stem cell transfer," spinning it down after harvesting it, freezing, and many other methods.
Results cannot be guaranteed
It is very difficult to control all variables when harvesting and transplanting fat cells. There has been very favorable data published with all methods of fat transfer; however, there has been no true study able to compare each method to the others in a controlled consistent environment (i.e. the patient).
Typically you can expect about 50-60% of the fat that was transferred to stay. About 40-50% of the transplanted fat will breakdown over time. To offset the difference, we must inject about twice as much fat as we want to stay. The more fat you want transferred to the buttocks means more liposuction has to be performed.
No matter how much liposuction you are willing to do, the skin will only stretch so much. More dramatic results may require a separate procedure later on giving the skin time to adjust before it can be stretched more.
Thin girls are not candidates
There has to be fat to transfer. If you are thin without a lot of excess fat, you'll need to eat quite a bit to gain 15-20 lbs before the procedure can be done.
You cannot use Smartlipo Triplex fat
Smartlipo Triplex has the amazing capability of breaking down fat and tightening skin producing favorable liposuction results. Did you catch that? It breaks down fat. For fat transfer, we have to do everything possible to maintain the integrity of the fat so we can only use tumescent liposuction. You lose the benefits of the minimal downtime and more importantly, skin tightening, of the Smartlipo Triplex system.
Other Options for Enhancing the Buttocks
We can do other procedures that will accentuate the buttocks without having to actually change the size. Imagine, instead of making the buttocks bigger, what if we made everything else smaller? We can liposuction using the Smartlipo Triplex to the abdomen, flanks (love handles), outer thighs (saddle bags), inner thighs, etc. This is a cheaper, more feasible option for many patients. Considering it can all be done under a local anesthetic, it is much easier on the pocket book as well.
