Compare: Smartlipo vs. Cool Lipo, Slim Lipo, Vaser Lipo

Comparison of Smart Lipo vs Laser Lipo
Liposuction is one of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures performed. It is not a weight-loss procedure; it is, however, an effective method to remove stubborn deposits of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. Many people seeking liposuction today are unaware that there are several different minimally invasive liposuction options available. Many people seeking liposuction are also likely to become very confused when faced with an assortment of non-invasive fat reduction treatments that aren't actually liposuction yet are named in such a way that they sound like they are performing liposuction.

Confusing names The names of these procedures seem deliberately chosen to confuse patients. Laser liposuction may be called Smart Lipo, Cool Lipo, or Slim Lipo. Cold laser treatments may be called LaserLipo. However, cold laser treatments do not surgically remove fat cells and are not a type of liposuction. Ultrasound liposuction may be called Vaser Lipo. Another non-invasive, non-surgical treatment called Liposonix uses ultrasound on fat. However, no fat cells are surgically removed during Liposonix and it is not a type of liposuction. There are also non-invasive fat removal methods that involve freezing the fat cells, sometimes called cryolipolysis or Coolsculpting.

Laser liposuction, aka Smart Lipo Laser liposuction is a minimally invasive method of performing surgical liposuction. A laser is used to heat the fat cells until they melt into a liquid. The melted fat is then aspirated away through tiny incisions. The heat from the laser seals off blood vessels, reducing bruising. The heat also tightens the skin. A local anesthetic is used, and most patients report feeling no sensations at all during the procedure. The sites of the incisions may feel mildly painful later on. Recovery is quick- a return to full activity within a week. A compression wrap does need to be worn around the area, and there is some swelling. Most of the swelling will be gone within a month. There may some residual swelling for up to 6 months.

Cold laser, aka Laser Lipo,  Despite its name, Laser Lipo doesn't actually involve liposuction. It does use a laser. The laser is called a cold laser because it uses relatively low energies to avoid burning the skin and other tissues. The treatment is intended to be a completely non-invasive method of shrinking fat deposits. The laser is focused on the fat deposits and it releases the fat to be removed by the body. Multiple treatments are required before any reduction in the size of fat deposits can be expected to occur. Because no actual fat cells are removed, any observed effect is probably not permanent and the treatments will need to be repeated in future.

How To Pick The Right Size Breast Implant For YOU With The Mentor Volume Sizing System!

Mentor Breast Implant Sizing System available in Pearland TX
When opting to have a breast augmentation or reduction, it can be a challenge to decide which implant size is best for you. While Dr. Kratschmer will of course guide you to making the right decision, many go back on forth on which breast implant size they really want. Here we offer the MENTOR Volume Sizing System for Breast Augmentation!
The Mentor Volume Sizing System, enables you to select the breast implant volume that best meets your desired result. The Sizing System includes a set of 18 uniquely shaped volume sizers (nine per breast) and provide a realistic preview of the breast size. Using the sizing system, along with Dr. Kratschmer you will be able to simulate 24 different volumes, ranging from 150cc-775cc, and will help you as the patient feel more invested in and satisfied with your size decision.
During your complimentary and completely customized consultation, we will help to fit the different breast implant sizers into the bra that you would like to fit into or even a selection of bras that you are interested in, and then put the bra on. Once you have the desired bra on, you can then select one of the major sizes and insert it over your breast (it is curved on the inside) and into the bra.  Once you have the rough size selected you can fine tune your selection by adding some simple add on pieces (also called cutlets) over the main implant sizer until you are satisfied.  And if you start off with two different sized breasts – which most women have – you can select different sizes for each side.
You can really play around with large breast implant sizes even if you aren’t interested in going big and also get a rough idea of how much the breast implants will weigh and how it feels to move with a larger bust. The great thing about this breast implant sizing system is it also works with patients who have already had a breast augmentation previously and may be interested in going to a larger size as the sizers are contoured to work on breasts with implants as well.
Come in for a complementary breast augmentation consultation today and try out our new breast implant sizing system and start your path to a new you!

January Medicine Cabinet Clean-out!

Which beauty products are in your medicine cabinet?
Between last year's Oil of Olay face cream and the tube of Preparation H your mom once told you was good for puffy eyes, sits a jar of radiant skin waiting to be unveiled.
Why not get a fresh start for the new year? That over-the-counter skincare stuff you’re using, only treats the dead layer of skin on the surface.. Instead, think cosmeceutical!  Our products are formulated to penetrate deep into the dermis layer where collagen, elastin, and pigmentation lay.
Here’s our top 10 anti-aging products…
1. Retinol
Why: Stimulates collagen production, which targets fine lines and can result in a tighter, younger-looking complexion.
When: At night only!! Recommended  2-3 times per week, but that all depends on your skin type and age.
My Fav: SkinCeuticals Retinol 0.5% or 1.0%
2. Daily Antioxidant
Why: Increases collagen synthesis and reduces skin damage caused by free radicals. Vitamin C is an essential anti-oxidant which helps create healthy, youthful, glowing skin.
When: Every Morning.. Religiously! And anytime my skin looks dull or ashy.
My Fav: Skinceuticals CE Ferulic
3. AHA or BHA Cleanser
Why: AHA (glycolic/lactic acid) & BHA (salicylic acid) are both great exfoliants and reveal smoother skin!
When: I like to use it at night… Gets my skin squeaky clean and prepped for my night cream.
My Fav: Skin Medica Foaming Cleanser or Skinceuticals Simply Clean
4. Gentle Cleanser
Why: Because your skin needs a break from acids, sulfates, and parabens to heal and for optimal skin health.
When: I use mine in the morning and after peels, lasers, Ulthera or any intense treatment done to my face.
My Fav: Skinceuticals Gentle Cleanser or Skin Medica Sensitive Cleanser.
5. Tinted Sunscreen
Why: Do I have to explain this one? Surprisingly, so many of us DO NOT use this daily. People.. This is your fountain of youth! A proper sunscreen helps protect your skin from sunburn, early aging, and skin cancer. Need I say more…
When: Every day! (even if it’s cloudy). Don’t forget to reapply every 2 hours if out in the sun. According to American Academy of Dermatology, sunscreen needs to be at least SPF 30, UVA and UVB protectant, and water resistant.
My Fav: Skinceuticals tinted Physical Fusion (best seller!)
6. Self-Tanner
Why: Perfect for a healthy glow without the damaging effects of UV rays.
When: I like to apply mine once a week at night.. I love waking up to a glowing face and body.

My Fav:  Latisse

"I want to look younger, but not plastic."

When patients initially come in, a common request we hear is, “I want to look younger, but not plastic”.  Our immediate response is “Ultherapy!”
Usually with an enticing look on their face, they say “what is that?”…
Ultherapy or Ulthera will tone loose or wrinkled skin by using the body’s own healing response. Ulthera will tighten the neck and jowls or lift a sagging brow, for example, which in turn reduces the excess eyelid skin, giving the eyes a more refreshed appearance.  It requires no special preparation and results typically appear after one treatment. The ultimate lifting will take two to three months, as rejuvenated, stronger collagen replaces the existing tired collagen in your skin.
To get a little bit more detailed, I’ve included a few frequently asked questions about Ultherapy:

What is Ultherapy?

Ultherapy is a non-surgical face treatment that uses ultrasound to actually lift and tone loose or sagging skin without any downtime by using the body’s own healing response.

What is so different about this procedure?

Ultherapy is the only non-invasive treatment that can specifically target the deep foundation below the skin that is addressed in cosmetic surgery without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin. It is also the only procedure to use ultrasound imaging, which allows us to actually see the layers of tissue we target during treatment and ensure the energy is deposited precisely to where it will be most effective.

How does Ulthera work?

Ultherapy deposits focused ultrasound energy below the surface of the skin to stimulate the body’s creation of new collagen. As a result, skin will actually begin to lift and tone over time.

What does collagen do?

Collagen is a natural protein that gives skin its youthfulness by keeping it firmed, toned and elastic. As we age, collagen loses its elasticity and its ability to stand up to the effects of gravity that pull the skin downward. Ultherapy jump starts a repair process that produces fresh, new collagen.

Is Ultherapy surgery?

No. Unlike a face lift, Ultherapy is a non-invasive procedure that addresses the skin and support layers below it, but doesn’t entail cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin.

Can Ultherapy replace a face lift?

Ultherapy is an “uplift” not a “face lift.” While it is not a replacement for surgery, it is a viable option for those not ready for a face lift or those looking to prolong the effects of cosmetic surgery.

How is Ultherapy different from lasers?

Lasers typically address issues in the superficial layers of the skin (e.g. fine lines, wrinkles, pigment changes). Ultherapy addresses the deep skin layer and the foundational layer addressed in cosmetic surgery that lift and lend support to the skin. Therefore, the two technologies are quite complementary!

Is Ultherapy safe?

The procedure has been cleared by the FDA after demonstrating safety in clinical studies, and tens of thousands of treatments have been performed safely worldwide. In addition, ultrasound energy has a proven track record, with use in the field of medicine for more than 50 years.

Who is a good candidate for Ultherapy?

A good candidate for Ultherapy is someone with skin that has “relaxed” to the point of looking, and often feeling, less firm. A lowered eyebrow line or sagging skin on the eyelids, for instance, is often the first sign of “maturing” skin. Typically, those in their thirties and older who have mild to moderate skin laxity are candidates.
While Ultherapy is not a replacement for a surgical face lift, there are many people who want some lifting but are not ready for surgery, either mentally, financially or logistically. There are also younger people who want to “stay ahead of the game” as well as those looking to prolong the effects of cosmetic surgery.

How long does the ultrasound treatment take?

A full face treatment takes 45-60 minutes, and a partial face or brow lift treatment can take around 30 minutes–neither with any downtime. This is why it’s been nick-named “The lunch-time face-lift”.

What problem areas does Ultherapy target? What kind of results do you get?

Ultherapy addresses mild to moderate loose or sagging skin. Specifically, by reconditioning and renewing the skin from within, Ultherapy will lift the brow, which in turn reduces excess skin on the lids, opens up the eyes, and gives a more refreshed look overall.

How long until I see results?

Patients may enjoy some initial effect but the ultimate lifting and toning will take place over 2-3 months, as tired collagen is replaced with new, more elastic collagen. As this collagen-building process continues, further improvements can appear up to 6 months following a procedure.

How long do results last?

Patients treated with Ultherapy still have fresh young collagen after a year’s time following the procedure, but skin continues to age. Future touch-up treatments can help keep pace with the aging process, which varies by individual.

Will I need more than one treatment?

The majority of patients only need one treatment; however, some may benefit from more than one treatment (depending on how much laxity they have and their body’s own biological response to the ultrasound and collagen-building process).

Is there any downtime?

Ultherapy is an entirely non-invasive procedure and as such, there is no downtime. You are able to return to your normal activities right away, and there are no special measures you need to take.

Will I feel the ultrasound during the treatment?

Yes. What you are feeling during the treatment is actually tiny amounts of focused ultrasound energy being deposited below the surface of the skin.

What does it feel like?

Comfort thresholds vary from patient to patient, but there can be some discomfort while the ultrasound energy is being delivered. This is temporary and a positive signal that the collagen-building process has been initiated.
Your practitioner will consult with you prior to your skin treatment to make your experience as pleasant as possible. Patients typically leave comfortable and excited about the benefits to come!

Are there any side effects?

There may be slight redness for up to an hour or so following the treatment, and a small percentage of patients may have slight swelling, tingling or tenderness to touch, but these are mild and temporary in nature. There is always the possibility for other less common post-procedural effects, which your practitioner will review with you.

How much does it cost?

On average, prices typically range anywhere between $650 – $2500 per treatment.

Can You PREVENT Crow's Feet?

Crow’s feet, laugh lines, wrinkles, whatever you call it, they’re those pesky lines around the eyes.  They’re called Crow’s feet because they can sort of look like the foot of a many-toed crow planted on the crow of your eye.
Why do they appear?
They typically start small, and then slowly getting more noticeable as we age.  There are many contributing factors, considering lifestyle, sunlight exposure and of course smiling!
How can help reduce the look of Crow’s Feet?
There are many different ways you can help reduce the lines around the eyes, but one of the most noticeable and fastest way to reduce the look of Crow’s Feet is Botox.  Not only will Botox smooth existing wrinkles, but it can help PREVENT these wrinkles from forming as well!
How can Botox help reduce the look of Crow’s Feet?
When injected into the skin, it relaxes small facial muscles, which works to reduce facial wrinkles for several months.
To learn more about how we can help reduce those pesky crow’s feet around your eyes, call us any time for a complimentary consultation with one of our experienced licensed estheticians at 713-909-3088.
