SkinCeuticals Retinol Cheaper Than Retin A

Many of you have brought our attention to the fact that generic Retin A seems to have doubled and sometimes even tripled in price depending on your pharmacy.  We have a much less expensive alternative available here at our office.  Available in 0.5% and 1.0%, Retinol by SkinCeuticals is similar in strength and efficacy to prescription Retin A and costs only $57.  It also is formulated such that it is less irritating on your skin as well.  So if you are seeing some Retin A sticker shock now, come by and give this product a try!

Benefits of pure retinol:

  • Helps reduce appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, and uneven tone

  • Preserves optimal retinol stability and minimizes irritation commonly associated with the use of retinoids

  • Ensures maximum amount of retinol reaches the target site

  • If you are concerned with improving and evening your skin tone or reducing fine lines and wrinkles, we have options such as Botox, Juvederm, Voluma, laser facials, chemical peels, Ultherapy and more.  Call Chic Esthetiq Med Spa & Laser in Pearland for a complementary Botox consultation or free skincare evaluation -- 713-909-3088.

Is It Normal To Be Itchy After Tattoo Removal?

Laser treatments are definitely the way to go for tattoo removal, but there are a few uncomfortable side effects you may have to deal with while the treated area heals. One of the biggest complaints we hear is that the skin in and around the treated area is extremely itchy after treatment.

The laser tends to cause some dehydration to the skin. This in and of itself can be quite itchy. Add that to the fact that the healing process can cause some itching too, and you’ve got the potential for some very itchy skin. In most cases the itchiness is not too bothersome. We recommend a moisturizer, preferably SkinCeuticals Epidermal Repair to rehydrate the skin and relieve the itch.

When you do apply moisturizer, do so with a deep massaging action. This will not only help the moisturizer to penetrate deeper into the skin, it will also increase the blood flow to the area which will in turn aid in the healing process and allow the immune system to flush away shattered ink more quickly. We recommend that all of our tattoo removal patients do this at least once daily after the area begins to heal, but especially if your tattoo is in an area with reduced blood flow such as the hands or the feet.

As always, if you have questions about your treatment, want to know if your experience is normal, or would like to know if there is anything you can do to speed the process, please feel free to call us at 713-909-3088. We strive to ensure you achieve the best results possible with each laser treatment.

How Many Treatments Will It Take To Remove My Tattoo?

When it comes to estimating the number of treatments a tattoo may need in order to remove it, there are many factors that contribute to that number. Many of these factors are not readily visible. Some determining factors include, but are not limited to, tattoo color, skin color, density of ink, depth of the ink in the skin, and the patient’s own immune system.

Our Licensed Estheticians and Licensed Laser Professionals use their knowledge of the laser tattoo removal process along with their experience to provide you with a reasonably estimated range of treatments that may be necessary to remove your tattoo. Due to the extremely variable nature of both people and tattoos, our laser specialists cannot guarantee a specific number or even a range of treatments that may be necessary. Our laser specialists may be able to re-evaluate their original estimate for a more accurate range once they see how the tattoo is responding from one treatment to the next, however, even then an exact number cannot be given nor guaranteed.

We offer free consultations so that you can meet with our Licensed Estheticians and Licensed Laser Professionals to discuss with them what to expect from treatment and get an idea of how many treatments may be necessary to remove your tattoo.

Three Things Breast Augmentation Patients Will Want to Discuss with Their Surgeon

If you’ve made the decision to undergo breast augmentation, you are probably ecstatic to think about your new curves! But before you get carried away thinking about your enhanced bust line, you still have some serious decisions to make. If you’re about to undergo breast augmentation, Houston-area physicians recommend you check out this simple guide of the three most basic topics to consider:

    1) What size is best for me?
You may already know just what size cup you’d like to have post-surgery, but if not, don’t let yourself be stressed about it. Talk to your surgeon about the possibilities and what they recommend. You’ll want to consider things like your body’s frame and proportions, since same-sized implants can look drastically different on different women.

    2) What type of implant should I get?
There are a number of types of implants available for those who pursue breast augmentation. Plastic surgeons in Houston can explain how various silicone and saline options come in not only many different sizes, but also in different shapes and textures. Your surgeon will tell you the benefits of each and help you make an informed decision.

    3) Where will incisions be made?
Patients are often concerned about the location and size of incisions, and rightly so. Your doctor will discuss inframammary, transaxillary, and peri-areolar incision areas with you, which target the under-breast, armpit, and nipple areas, respectively. Your surgeon’s final recommendation will be based on the type of implant you choose, your body, and your lifestyle.

    Busting the Botox Myths

    model

We’ve all heard them. Tell a friend you’re planning on getting Botox and they might list off rumors they have heard on this or that website, or a horror story from the depths of a gossip magazine. Before you get your procedure, it’s important to know the truth and fiction about this popular procedure.

    1. The number one myth you will hear is that Botox leaves you expressionless. There’s no shortage of punchlines in movies where a recent Botox patient is mocked for being unable to smile or do much more than blink, but that’s far from the truth. Injecting too much Botox can have an effect on one’s facial expression, but this is an extreme case scenario. Regular Botox procedures require injecting very small amounts of the solution into specific facial muscles–not indiscriminate application that minimizes expression. Applications by qualified, professional board certified plastic surgeons leave patients with a natural look free of unwanted lines and wrinkles, without sacrificing expression.

    2. Botox is for the rich and famous. There is no doubt that the most talked about and examined procedures are those performed on celebrities who are constantly under the spotlight, but Botox and other plastic surgery is normal among those of us who don’t spend our nights on the red carpet. Procedures are dropping in price, making them increasingly accessible to regular people.

    3.  Botox is only for women. Not true! Men make up about ten percent of cosmetic surgery patients and plastic surgeons commonly perform Botox procedures on men as well as women.

If you have more concerns about Botox, address them with Dr. Robert Kratschmer, board certified plastic surgeon in Pearland, but don’t be scared off by myths.  To schedule a Botox consultation in Pearland, call us at 281-317-8179.
